This study is a randomised controlled trial of adherence intervention therapy compared to a supportive health education, control intervention for people with an acute episode of schizophrenia. Patients in both treatment groups will be followed up for one year following randomisation, and quality of life, disability and medication adherence, a range of other outcome measures and costs will be assessed.
