The aim of the course is to examine the main ways of conducting sports activity in non-profit organizations. The expected learning outcomes are: KNOWLEDGE 1) Understand how an organization's information system works 2) Examine the management and its internal organizational components 3) Interpret a budget, learning how to build specific performance indicators 4) Know the main tax concepts necessary for the organization SKILLS' 1) Appreciate the "value" generated by the organization 2) Monitor the effectiveness, efficiency and economy of management. 3) Identify any pathological aspects of a company in crisis.
The following topics will be addressed within the course:
1. Economic activity in sport;
2. The non-profit company: distinctive traits and possible types of the "non-business" company;
3. Organization and management of the company;
a. Internal organization;
b. Management cycles;
4. The information system;
5. The budget;
a. The representation of the balance sheet data;
b. Financial and economic reporting;
c. Evaluation of company action;
d. Overview of the pathological aspects of a company in crisis;
Participation in class is an essential requirement to stimulate the student's critical abilities, independent judgment and communicative and relational skills.
Business cases will also be analyzed and quantitative analysis techniques will be applied also through group work.

Slides used class, as well as other documents and study materials will be available on the e-learning page.
The exam is divided into a written and an oral part. It will be held in the Italian language. Students will be admitted to take the oral part provided that they have received a sufficient evaluation on the written part (≥ 18/30).

The written exam aims at testing students' knowledge of the syllabus topics, as well as their capability to apply accounting methods.
The oral part aims at testing students':
- in-depth knowledge of taught topics;
- use of proper wording;
- ability to create connections amongst the array of taught topics;
- analytical skills.
---- Exam content ----
The written exam will constist of practical exercises and questions about topics discussed during the lessons.
Each exercise is evaluated with a single score; students' knowedge will be evaluated as “sufficient”, as such allowing the admission to the oral part, if it is ≥ 18/30.
