Movement Cynematics Lab

The lab is located at the Section of Physiology and Psychology, and offers the opportunity to measure simultaneous upper limb- and eye-movements in human participants.

Services

The limb-movement tracker consists of an optical system comprising infrared cameras recording the position of markers located on the upper limb. The instrument is portable, therefore it can be easily associated with other methods of investigation, such as transcranial magnetic stimulation.
Equipment:
The system comprises 4 Optitrack Flex13 cameras. Each has a resolution of 1280 × 1024 pixels and a sampling frequency of 120 frames per second, allowing an optimal coverage of movements performed within a small volume of space, within which movements can be performed with the upper limbs.

Research activity:
1. Study of the role of premotor cortex in voluntary movement within ecological settings.
2. Study of the role of primary visual cortex in object representation during grasping movements
