In the research laboratories, the following microscopes (all equipped with devices for image acquisition and analysis) are available:
- Several optical microscopes (bright field, differential interference contrast, fluorescence)
- A transmission electron microscope
- A scanning electron microscope equipped with a probe for x-ray microanalyses.
The equipment for preparing biological specimens suitable for the different microscopical techniques are also available to perform both conventional morphology and molecular biology in situ (histochemistry, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization).
