Advanced course in Occupational therapy for children and adolescents

Course partially running (all years except the first)

Overview

Every year, thousands of children are born with disorders that result in severe cognitive, sensory, motor or social impairments. These children have severe limitations when it comes to everyday activities, interpersonal relations and integrating at school, and will have difficulty being autonomous in various spheres of life, including socialising, relationship building, forming a family and entering the workforce. The course aims to provide occupational therapists with the theoretical and practical knowledge to be able to work with disabled children, their families and in their environments in order to reduce/overcome the impact of these impairments in everyday life. Assessment tools and therapeutic and rehabilitative programmes for children and adolescents are very specific, requiring in-depth knowledge based on current scientific evidence. This advanced course focuses on disabilities and neuro-disabilities in children and adolescents. Participants will gain deeper, more specific insight into the field of child neuropsychiatric rehabilitation, where occupational therapists are often needed to make a vital contribution with their specific expertise.
