Learning outcomes

Emerging Viruses: definition, epidemiology, dynamics, zoonoses.
Description of the characteristics, biology, the infectious cycle, epidemiology, as well as the prospects for development of drugs and / or vaccines against emerging viruses that raised public attention and concerns in recent years (Hantavirus, Arbovirus, West Nile , Chikunguya, Nipah, Hendra, Monkeypox, etc.).
Particular focus on the following pathogens: SARS coronavirus, MERS coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19, influenza (including avian flu and swine flu), Ebola Virus / Maburg
At the end of the course, students will be able to understand how biological, epidemiological, molecular and adaptive mechanisms can determine the appearance of new infectious agents.
