The objective of the course is to enable students:
to understand the steps involved in questionnaire validation
to critically review articles dealing with questionnaire development and validation
Questionnaires as an essential tool to assess latent variables.
Steps in the development of a questionnaire.
Likert scale and semantic differential scale.
Reliability and validity of a questionnaire.
Statistical assessment of the reliability of a questionnaire:
1.Item correlation: inter-item correlation, uncorrected/corrected item-to-total correlation;
2.Assessment of questionnaire dimensions by Principal Component Analysis;
3.Cronbach’s alpha to measure internal consistency.
Questionnaire validity: content, criterion, construct, face and predictive validity.
Inter-rater and intra-rater agreement: Cohen’s kappa for nominal variables, weighted kappa for ordinal variables and Pearson’s correlation coefficient or intraclass correlation coefficient for quantitative variables.
