Learning outcomes

The course explores translational research approaches in the field of Infectious Diseases using as an example SARS-CoV-2 epidemiological and clinical research with particular reference to the definition and management of the post-COVID-19 syndrome. During the course,we will explore how researched varied during the various phases of the pandemic, evaluating the successful models that have directly resulted in benefits in the clinical management of the patients and clearly ineffective models. Particular attention will be paid to how the different disciplines can integrate and support each other. During the course it will also be discussed how epidemiological and clinical data from cohort studies play an essential role in the management of Infectious Diseases with epidemic potential and how, if appropriately defined, they can inform the design and components of randomized controlled trials for the definition of therapeutics.
