Dr. Patricia Lievens received her Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Siena and a Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Pathology at the University of Verona. She previously carried out research at the laboratories of the following institutions: Children's Hospital, Harvard University (Boston, USA), Department of Genetics and Biology of Microorganisms, University of Milan, "C. Besta" Neurological Institute of Milan, Department of Neuroscience, Italian Institute of Technology of Genoa.
Research areas:
Cellular and molecular biology mainly in the context of genetic diseases including, Kennedy's disease, prion diseases, chondrodysplasia and more recently autism, with a particular focus on the regulation mechanisms of post-transcriptional and post-translational gene expression and on mechanisms related to cellular signalling.
