Dr. Davide Papola (MD, PhD) is a psychiatrist and tenured Assistant Professor at the University of Verona.

His scholarly expertise centers on the design and conduct of systematic reviews, with a particular focus on synthesizing clinical trial evidence through meta-analytic methods, as well as on the development of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines. His work spans the full translational pathway, from knowledge generation to its implementation in clinical practice.

In 2017, during his psychiatry residency, Dr. Papola spent six months at McMaster University (Hamilton, Ontario, Canada) under the supervision of Professor Gordon Guyatt, where he received advanced training in research methodology, with a specific emphasis on the GRADE approach. In 2019, while pursuing his PhD, he was a research fellow at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (the Netherlands) under the supervision of Professor Pim Cuijpers, initiating a productive and ongoing collaboration in the field of psychotherapy research.

From 2018 to 2023, Dr. Papola served as a guideline developer for the Italian National Institute of Health (Istituto Superiore di Sanità). In 2022, he provided methodological support for the update of the World Health Organization (WHO) Mental Health Gap Action Programme (mhGAP). From 2022 to 2024, Dr. Papola held a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral appointment at the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine, Harvard Medical School (Boston, Massachusetts), where he worked within the research group led by Professor Vikram Patel.
