Aim of the present project is to provide a standard procedure for OM sampling and to analyse the sensitivity and the specificity of OM brushing/RT-QuIC test in a large cohort of patients with sporadic CJD and genetic CJD.
Its purpose is to foster and validate a diagnostic test for the definite intravital diagnosis of Creutzfeldt – Jakob disease (CJD) based on the identification of the pathological prion protein (PrPCJD) in the olfactory mucosa (OM) collected by nasal brushing.
