Neurobiology and cellular neurophysiology

Faculty members within this research area study the role of neuronal activity in the process of competition and elimination of synapses in the peripheral and central nervous system, as well as the functional, molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying plasticity of the nervous system in physiological and pathological conditions (Alzheimer's disease and autism). They utilize both imaging (confocal and two-photon microscopy) and electrophysiology techniques (patch clamp, extracellular and intracellular recordings) in in vivo and in vitro animal models.
